The Digital Universe IS a killer idea to change the world. Truth will reside there because it is impenetrable to corporate influence and even advocacy.
It will be funded entirely by civil society in several ways. Firstly, starting in July, MySpace members will be able to move their pages into a new state of the art social networking platform centered around subject areas. We will put socially responsible banner ads on free users pages, except the revenue from the ads will go to support the portal coalitions building and maintaining the portals instead of Rupert Murdoch. Secondly, users will be able to pay a small fee to opt out of the advertising both on their pages and also they will never see advertising on free user pages.
There will NEVER be advertising on the DU sanctioned portals.
The coolest part will be the web 3.0 technology launching at the same time which will revolutionize the way we organize and navigate the Internet.
This is the coolest thing I have ever seen or hoped for.
If today was your last day on earth, how would you live it?
Loving

Social networking technology will reinvigorate our humanity as it was once expressed though physical communities.
Today too many people live in sprawling neighborhoods utterly isolated from any kind of community and therefore cut of from a foundation of our humanity.
Last week, the ederly man living 3 doors down was taken away in an ambulance. I went out to see as their was a big firetruck, ambulance, and police car with lights flashing - impossible to miss.
Not one of my neighbors came out.
An family of five moved into a house 150 feet from me over a year ago. Every time I try to introduce myself, they quickly disappear inside the house.
What the hell is going on?
Is it any wonder so many seem unconcerned about the war in Iraq? Even returning soldiers describe an inability to relate to anyone who hasn't been to Iraq. They say people don't want to hear about it.
