Here's a piece I wrote for ComputerWorld, on how social media is moving from our computer screens to the streets via handheld devices.
"Social media is literally on the move. While useful for anonymous and asynchronous communications, computer-based social media is rapidly becoming old school. In comparison, mobile social media is personal and dynamic -- and more closely tied to how people engage in the real world. SoMo not only provides us the freedom to meet each other where we are, it also gives computing a distinctly human face."
Would love to hear about other good examples of, and exciting new work being done in, the area of "SoMo"? And of course, it's always great to get some pushback on mobile vs. more traditional online social media. No doubt the two will play off of each other for a couple of years to come, but in the long run all social media roads will likely lead to mobile!
