Putting Things in Perspective...the Worldwide Digital Divide

According to TeleGeograpy, only 2% of Africans have home broadband, and half of 127 countries they tracked have less than a 20% penetration rate. Only 10 countries out of 127, mostly small developed places like Hong Kong, Singapore, Denmark, and South Korea have 80% or higher penetration. In North America over 68% of households have high speed access.

Its an important reality check at a time when a lot of folks get indignant over the "low" U.S. Broadband rate. Of course its not an either or situation. The important point is that we should ALL have full, high speed access, and those who are further along should be giving a about (and helping) those who don't!
