Great
article in today's San Francisco Chronicle about an innovator (who happens to be blind) using a self-designed wireless video system to sail, ski, shoot and participate in all kinds of sports usually the purview of the sighted. Apparently the system is made up of a wireless camera attached to a hat that transmits an image through Skype to a land-based sighted person who provides directions.
"His project began two years ago with a video camera mounted to a bicycle helmet. He has since refined and used this technology to fire a handgun on a shooting range, shoot arrows at targets, and ski downhill slopes and cross-country terrain in Aspen, Colo. His camera is now the size of a dime".
