Profile

Your interest in or involvement with technology and social change?
Education is key to country development and poverty reduction.
What do you do in life as we know it?
For work, I inspire and build partnerships with corporations and development partners for the Cisco Networking Academy. I have a special focus on consulting on partnerships within the Gender Initiative, which is Cisco's external focus to decrease the digital divide for women globally. This initiative focuses on the where Cisco can apply it's core compentency to the challenges for women of the world, with the key initiative areas of Accessing Internet Technology, Building Knowledge (skills and education), and Creating Careers (education and sustaining women in Science Technology Engineering and Math).

Your killer idea to change the world?
IDEA is still in definition phase, but it goes something like this...
Create a visual course (non-language dependent), delivered online that teaches about blood-born illnesses and certifies HIV/AIDS caretakers for their education. This would be scaleable globally, but starting specifically in SSA. This would create a job where people could provide information, help with drug distribution, education, as well as report local statistics, and trends in the virus on a real time basis to assist with a cure.
If today was your last day on earth, how would you live it?
So, if I stay ahead of the dateline, I won't only have one day. (: This can really stretch it out. (Um, flight times can't count otherwise this won't be possible).
Anyway, the day prior to the last day I would fly overnight to China to start the morning with kayaking on a tributory of the Yellow River. I would then fly to Tanzania and hike part of Kilimanjaro and see the Serengeti. Then I would fly to Tangiers, Morocco and swimin the Strait of Gibraltor after having mint tea, then catch a flight from Valencia, Spain, back to Phoenix, Arizona. There, I would mountain bike around Bell Rock and end my days with a Sedona moonrise. Ah hem, also there is an assumption that I won't exactly die because I'll teach my clone, and she can keep living. I'll be her dog in my next life. (;
